KUBUS, as a company specialized in the production of diluents for semen preservation, manufactures them under the strictest GMP quality standards, with registered trademarks: MR-A®, MR-A®Antiox, Predil®MR-A®, SpermGuardian®, MRAbit® and introduces constant innovations in order to remain at the forefront and offer the solutions demanded by the market. It also develops all types of consumables for artificial insemination such as gels, catheters, tubes, bottles, blister packs, etc. In addition to other veterinary materials and equipment such as preservation ovens, water baths, transport refrigerators, syringes, needles, feeding troughs, microscopes, ultrasound scanners, gestation detectors, water filtration equipment, etc. It also develops all types of consumables for artificial insemination such as gels, catheters, tubes, bottles, blister packs, etc.

Preservative diluents

  • Long conservation, MR-A®, the company’s key product and the first diluent in the world to keep sperm cells alive for more than 7 days, even improving the fertility and prolificacy levels of the females in the first 3 days of semen conservation.
  • MR-A3® medium preservation keeps the semen in good employability conditions for 3 to 5 days, depending on the quality of the ejaculate.
  • Modified BTS reformulated by Kubus, a diluent designed primarily for the thawing of frozen semen, but which is used in cattle breeding with fresh semen to be used the same day it is obtained and is used due to its lower economic cost.
  • Iber-A®, a diluent adapted to the special characteristics of semen from rustic breeds and developed to reduce the effect of sperm agglutination that occurs more frequently in these breeds, among them: Iberian (Spain-Portugal), Mong Cai (Vietnam), Pelón-Mexican (Mexico), Meishan (China).
  • Liquidil Vitesse, a ready-to-use liquid diluent, guarantees a perfect dilution in purified water, all manufactured in our facilities. First Prize FIMA 2009 for innovation.
  • MR-A Can® developed in 2013 is used for fresh insemination of dog semen. Based on achieving osmotic pressures that slow down movement and prolong cell life.
  • MR-A Fox® developed in 2012 is used for fresh insemination of fox semen. Based on achieving osmotic pressures that slow down movement and prolong cell life.
  • MRA-bit®standard developed in 2000 is used for fresh insemination of rabbit semen.

Activating or revitalizing diluents

  • Predil®, synthetic seminal plasma, used in biphasic insemination, simulates the composition of synthetic plasma and increases sperm movement and capacitation. Sperm capacitation is the last phase of sperm development and is the one that allows the sperm to attach to the zona pellucida of the oocyte and to carry out the acrosome reaction. Predil® promotes this process, which does not occur naturally in all cells at the same time, and ensures that the sperm reach the eggs in a capacitated state.
  • MR-A thaw®, a diluent to revitalize defrosted semen, far surpasses the results of the generic BTS.

Optimized diluents

Thanks to the possibility of developing this project with CDTI funding, the company has created a new category of diluents that incorporate active ingredients that influence the physiological processes of reproduction. This will guarantee better fertility rates, making less important the exigency in the management of the breeders, key to obtain good results with the preservative and revitalizing diluents.

Catheters

Catheters are plastic devices, single-use or reusable, used for the canalization of semen from the container where it is stored to the place in the reproductive system where the semen is to be deposited.

Conventional catheters

They consist of 3 elements, tip, cannula and back.With this function we find catheters of approximately 50 centimeters (small variations depending on the supplier), they are fixed to the cervix and the sperm are deposited there.The tips can be spiral-shaped, sponge-shaped, conical-shaped and with different types of materials.The cannulae have the function of having the appropriate length to reach the cervix and the back is an accessory element that helps in the fixation to the cannula of the dose container.

Post-cervical catheters

The functional difference is that the semen is deposited at the level of the body of the uterus and is thus closer to the fertilization site, so that doses of lower volume and concentration of spermatozoa are normally used.The post-cervical catheter includes a thin 70-centimeter flexible cannula (inside the conventional catheter) with a rounded tip and three exit holes to facilitate semen deposition (there are slight variations depending on the supplier).

Semen containers

There are several types, blister packs, which have the shape of an envelope, tubes or small bottles, with usual sizes of 90 ml and 60 ml.

Other consumables

Other common consumables are related to the work in the insemination laboratory, gloves, microscope slides, formalin solutions, saline solutions, disinfectants.

Equips

The company markets third-party equipment used for AI, such as water baths, microscopes, dilution tanks, 16ºC ovens, scales, peristaltic pumps, container sealers and labelers.

Other business lines

The company has an important patrimony of rustic estates and has obtained recognition for the quality of its oils from Bajo Aragón and was a pioneer in the introduction of the arbequina variety in Badajoz, where it is now being produced more due to the spread of hyper-intensive olive groves. Collaborations are also made in the project phase of livestock farms and management software for artificial insemination centers MR-A® WinPro Genetics. As regards the provision of services, a great effort is made to disseminate the advances in A.I. by organizing conferences and going to farms to provide customized solutions according to the characteristics of each farm and its work culture.
